NO RACE

Applies to us in the North and also in Austria: Matschfuss is not a race, but the best day you can spend on two wheels.

We organize everything for you. All you have to do is show up and enjoy. The most important thing should always be clear: have fun riding and enjoy the beautiful scenery!

THE ROUTES

As always, the routes will only be revealed shortly before the start, as we love to surprise you. But we can tell you this much: The prologue will be short but intense! Approximately 13 km with 980 vertical meters. Phew!

Then the main stage is 80 km of the finest Upper Austrian gravel, with or without raisins, whatever you prefer. You'll have to conquer 1650 vertical meters. It's best to ride with a bike computer, as the route will be navigated via GPS. Don't have a bike computer? No problem – our partner WAHOO will be on site and has rental devices available.

FOOD & NUTRITION

A central element of every "Matschfuss": cuisine. Even before the start, you can fortify yourself with various delicacies. Along the way, you'll find the usual awesome checkpoints with food and drinks to prepare you for Ternberg's gravel. Of course, still pack gels or bars and water, just to be safe! At the finish line, there will be a delicious (non-alcoholic) beer and Kaiserschmarrn. Doesn't that make your mouth water? Got hooked? Then let's go:

Start and Finish: Location. We start on Friday from 3 PM and on Saturday from 11 AM. Various food trucks will be available at the start and finish area. Toilets are available, and showers can be found in the nearby school. There will also be a cloakroom for your belongings.

Everyone aged 18 and over can register. There are 70 early bird tickets, after which the regular price category will be activated. There are also tickets that are only for the prologue: Friday Ticket. We will provide a ticket exchange for anyone who realizes after registering that they cannot make it after all.

Routes

We will publish the routes as GPX and on komoot shortly before the event. The prologue is 13 km with 980 meters of elevation gain. Saturday's route is 80 km / 2400 m of elevation gain. Some sections will be technically demanding and steep, yet each stage is manageable for beginners. There will be no signage, and navigation will be exclusively by GPS.

Nature and Codex

  1. We respect nature – we leave nothing but our tire tracks.
  2. We respect and support our fellow riders – fairness comes first.
  3. There is no place here for racism, exclusion or discrimination.
  4. We ride with each other, not against each other – the shared journey counts as much as the destination.

Bicycle and equipment

You need a bicycle, and it absolutely must be off-road capable! A gravel bike is highly recommended, MTBs are also fine. We recommend choosing tires with a minimum width of 40 mm; wider is better. The tread should also be suitable for loose ground and, if necessary, mud (knobby). Definitely bring tire levers and spare tubes so you don't get stranded. A bike computer also makes sense, as the route will be followed by GPS and is not signposted. Your gearing should be chosen to suit the climbs, meaning a small chainring and a large cassette. Especially during the prologue, it will be steep!
