Bike Cleaning Done Right! Tips for Bike Care and Saving Money
STEP 1 - ADD WATER
Time for water! First, rinse off the coarse dirt, so grab your (gentle) pressure washer or garden hose and wet your bike. Do you have a gravel bike? Focus especially on the thick dirt clumps that have been stuck to your bike for far too long after your last ride. Try to loosen them well, and then give up after a while because the stuff is really dried on. Do you have a road bike? You don't really have to clean them that often. Maybe first stock up properly at greaze.de and mentally prepare for cleaning after your next ride (Code: MATSCH20 saves you 20%).
STEP 2 - CHAIN
The chain must shine! If you're already using wax-based products, you can use the greaze Premium Bike Cleaner and spray the entire bike directly. Go over GO! and jump to step 3. If you ride with oil: greaze Premium Bike Degreaser removes everything! Spray the chain with it. What's the best part about washing dishes? That's right: letting them soak! It's also super relaxing when cleaning your bike. So take a smoke break or something while greaze does the work for you. Awesome! You can also quickly shop our merch or buy a ticket for the Mudfoot raffle. Just before you completely forget that you were actually cleaning your bike: take a hard brush, a chain cleaning tool, or a cloth to the chain and scrub thoroughly. Then rinse well.
STEP 3 - GREAZE PREMIUM BIKE CLEANER
Then it's time for the greaze Premium Bike Cleaner. Spray your bike with the ready-to-use product, which, like the degreaser, is also biodegradable.
Furthermore, the cleaner is coconut-based; if you dare to try it, let us know how it tastes! (Please don't!)
By the way, the cleaner is solvent-free and has also been tested by experts who, unlike us, actually know what they're doing. We can only say: It works really well, even on bikes that have been lying around dirty for at least a week after gravel riding.
STEP 4 - BRUSH
Now the real work begins, with the brush. Or the sponge. Whatever you have and what's good for your bike. This will remove the dirt after greaze has loosened it. Scrub the entire bike and finally rinse it with clean water. Looks like new again, great! You're doing great and you're almost done. Briefly imagine us cheering wildly for you. Okay, that's enough, let's move on.
STEP 5 - DRY
You should at least roughly wipe your bike dry with a soft cloth, preferably microfiber. Even if you're totally fed up by now. That's normal.
Otherwise, you'll see unsightly water spots, and we certainly don't want that.
STEP 6 - OIL/WAX
Just like in the eternal cycle of life, after you've freed your chain from old wax or oil, it needs to be re-waxed or re-oiled. So grab your greaze wax or oil and apply it to the chain. Fanatics treat each chain link individually. But you can also quickly run the chain through and hold the dropper bottle over it. If you're really cool, you can close your eyes and wildly spray the stuff in the general direction of your bike. We wouldn't recommend it, though.
You're done now and can ride your bike again. If one of your products ran out in the previous steps, you should reorder immediately with code MATSCH20 here. Otherwise, you'll only remember it next time you want to clean, and then you'll be really annoyed!
All clear so far? Then head over to greaze now and save big with discount code MATSCH20:
